The short version
Choose Frienzy when the job is the traveler app beside a reservation system you will keep, particularly TRES, ClientBase, or Softrip. Consider mTrip when you also want itinerary production in that platform: FIT and group programs, supplier documents, and delivery to travelers and agency partners. They are close substitutes for a branded phone app, and weaker substitutes when the gap is GDS or mid-office production, partner distribution, or mTrip’s optional risk tools. Neither product replaces the booking engine or CRM.

Where Frienzy is different
The traveler app is the product
Frienzy is scoped as the experience travelers open after a booking exists. mTrip describes a production chain that ends in the app, the web, and a PDF, and that can also be handed to agency partners. If you already produce the itinerary elsewhere, Frienzy is the narrower purchase.
A different integration neighborhood
Frienzy’s named connections are TRES, ClientBase, and Softrip, with one custom API integration on the Growth plan. mTrip’s published connections are Amadeus, Sabre, Travelport, and mid-office systems such as Tourplan and Juniper. Pick the product that meets the systems you already run.
Review before travelers see the import
Both products read itinerary files with AI. Frienzy’s published workflow is explicit that a person on your team reviews the draft before it is published. That review step is the part to test with one of your own files.
Launch shape
Frienzy says most partners go live within a few days, with store review usually setting the date. mTrip says Trip Agent can start the same day, and a dedicated white-label app is typically 2 to 3 weeks.
Where mTrip stands out
Production and delivery in one place
mTrip’s tour-operator pages cover assembling the program, consolidating supplier documents, and sending that itinerary to travelers and to agency partners. That is a wider operating surface than a traveler app.
A shared app and a dedicated app
Trip Agent puts the agency’s logo and colors in a shared app and can start immediately. The white-label plan publishes under the company’s own Apple and Google developer accounts. Teams can enter without taking on a store listing.
GDS and mid-office depth
Native connections to Amadeus, Sabre, and Travelport, plus named mid-office platforms, match operators who already build departures in those systems. Tour leaders can also see group locations and message the group in the app.
A longer record, and a risk layer
mTrip’s site lists 2009 as the founding year. Risk management is a paid add-on, with optional traveler tracking and risk alerts beside the itinerary. That combination is outside Frienzy’s published product.
Which should you choose?
Frienzy is likely the better fit if:
- You want travelers in an app under your name, and the booking stays in TRES, ClientBase, Softrip, or another system you already trust.
- The itinerary already exists as a file or in the reservation system, and your team will review it before travelers see it.
- You do not need GDS production, agency-partner distribution, or a duty-of-care dashboard in the same contract.
mTrip may be the better fit if:
- You want to assemble FIT and group departures, then deliver the same itinerary to travelers and to reselling agencies.
- Amadeus, Sabre, Travelport, or a mid-office system such as Tourplan or Juniper is where the booking is born.
- You want the option of a same-day shared app now, and a dedicated store listing as a later project, or you want traveler-tracking tools beside the itinerary.
Questions worth asking
Is Frienzy an alternative to mTrip?
For the branded traveler app, yes. Both can publish under the company’s own developer accounts. Frienzy is not an alternative for mTrip’s GDS and mid-office production chain or its optional risk tools.
What is the main difference between Frienzy and mTrip?
Frienzy is the traveler-experience layer beside the reservation system. mTrip describes itinerary production and delivery on the app, the web, and PDF, including to agency partners.
Does Frienzy replace the reservation system mTrip connects to?
No. Frienzy connects to TRES, ClientBase, and Softrip and leaves those systems in place. mTrip also says it does not replace the booking engine, CRM, or pricing system.
Which is the better fit for a tour operator that already has a reservation system?
If the reservation system stays and the gap is the traveler’s phone, start with Frienzy. If you also want GDS or mid-office production and delivery to agency partners, mTrip publishes that wider job.
